ALAN WHITNEY

Singer-Songwriter-Producer

Native Western New York Singer-Songwriter Alan Whitney's songs have been recorded by major label artists and featured in films, radio, and television. An early participant in the Americana music genre in the 1990's as an up-and-coming singer-songwriter, he worked as a staff writer, session musician, producer, and music industry tradesman in Los Angeles and Nashville.  Whitney developed his music in legendary venues, The Troubadour and The Palomino opening bills with such luminary Americana artists as Alison Krauss, Jim Lauderdale, and Lucinda Williams. Notably, he was invited to perform a living room concert for Motown legend, ‘Smokey’ Robinson.

Declaring Independence, The next chapter of Alan's career found him refocusing on the basics of his creative process in a rapidly changing music business. No longer in the shadow of the major recording industry, Alan stretched his wings to create music that was important to him.  Alan expanded as a regularly touring performing artist on the folk and Americana circuit supporting his independent releases.

Now living in Buffalo N.Y. Alan Whitney continues his now thirty-five-year music career journey performing and producing new work. He recently opened for Gordon Lightfoot.

The Healing Committee is a collaboration of American singer-songwriters Alan Whitney, Kathryn Koch, and Tim Pitcher. The three trade lead vocal and supporting roles on a wide range of songs, vocal harmony, guitars, and harmonica.  Their sound is a groove-driven American roots blend of song forward Country, Folk, and Soul.
